EWPN Welcomes Newly Appointed Directors to Further Its Mission

Introduction

The European Women in Payments Network (EWPN) is undergoing a leadership transition as its co-founders, Martha Dali Mghendi-Fisher and Nadja van der Veer, step down as registered Directors after a decade of service. They will continue to support the organization as Special Advisors to the Executive Directors. Angela Yore and Merima Mahmutovic will join co-founder Silvia Mensdorff-Pouilly as the new registered Directors to lead EWPN into its next growth phase. EWPN, a volunteer-driven community headquartered in the Netherlands, remains dedicated to empowering underrepresented groups in the payments and fintech industry through mentorship, education, and advocacy.

Since its founding, EWPN has transformed the payments industry by creating opportunities for underrepresented communities. With 52 active chapters and a network of passionate ambassadors, the organization has connected thousands of professionals, offering mentorship, leadership programs, and advocacy for diversity. EWPN has also provided a platform for voices from minority groups to be heard at major global fintech conferences such as Money20/20, Finovate, and The Merchant Payments Eco-System.

The organization’s flagship Annual Conference and Awards has taken place in major European cities, including Amsterdam, London, Munich, Vienna, Dublin, Sarajevo, and Zagreb. This year, the 7th Annual Conference & Awards will be held on October 13-14 in Amsterdam, celebrating diversity and showcasing role models shaping the industry.

Martha Dali Mghendi-Fisher emphasized EWPN’s mission by referencing the Ubuntu Philosophy:

Co-Founder Nadja van der Veer reflected on the journey:

“We started EWPN with just the three of us eight years ago, never expecting it to grow into such a powerful network. The commitment and passion of our members and volunteers have been truly inspiring. We look forward to supporting the new leadership as they take EWPN to the next level.”

The New Leadership Team

The transition introduces a strong leadership team to steer EWPN into the future:

  • Angela Yore, Founder & CEO of SkyParlour, will serve as Chair of the Statutory Board.
  • Silvia Mensdorff-Pouilly, Head of Business Development EMEA Enterprise at Worldpay, will Chair the Advisory Board, guiding strategic direction.
  • Merima Mahmutovic, Senior Manager at PwC SEE, takes on the role of Chair of the Executive Board, leading program development and industry initiatives.
  • Melanie Ockerse, VP of Account Management EMEA at Entersekt, will guide EWPN’s country ambassadors in expanding the community.

Why This Matters for Fintech?

EWPN’s mission aligns with the fintech industry’s need for greater diversity and inclusion. The payments sector is evolving rapidly, yet challenges remain in achieving gender parity and equal opportunities. EWPN is crucial in bridging these gaps, fostering leadership among women and minorities, and strengthening the industry through collaboration. Fintech companies can drive meaningful change and enhance innovation by supporting initiatives like mentorship, advocacy, and professional development.

Conclusion

As EWPN enters a new chapter, its impact on the payments and fintech industry remains stronger than ever. With a new leadership team in place, the organization is poised to continue breaking barriers and empowering professionals across Europe. The upcoming 7th Annual Conference in Amsterdam will serve as a key milestone, bringing together industry leaders to celebrate diversity and discuss the future of inclusive payments.
