With over 30 years of lending experience, Sam brings a wealth of knowledge and insight that will play a key role in driving our growth across the Northeast region. Based in New York, Sam’s arrival marks a strategic move to further strengthen the bank’s presence and relationships in the region.

Over the course of his career, Cirelli has built a strong reputation as a trusted financial advisor and corporate lender to small and mid-sized businesses. He’s worked across a wide range of industries and has led, structured, and closed over $10 billion in loan commitments across more than 700 transactions. With a proven track record of helping businesses secure the capital they need to grow, his leadership is expected to bring immediate value to TAB Bank’s clients.

Sam’s background combines executive leadership with hands-on experience in underwriting, portfolio management, and deal structuring. Before joining TAB Bank, he was a key leader at Triumph, where he successfully expanded the company’s footprint in the Northeast. He also has entrepreneurial credentials, having founded and led two asset-based lending startups.

Beyond his extensive lending experience, Sam also co-founded Northern Lights Partners—a boutique investment bank where he helped businesses raise capital and navigate complex mergers and acquisitions with confidence. His global perspective was further sharpened during his time at General Motors Finance, where he oversaw loan originations across the U.S., U.K., and Canada.

Beyond the boardroom, Sam has also shared his knowledge in the classroom. He’s taught corporate finance using Harvard Case Studies as an adjunct professor at NYU and led finance courses for both undergraduate and MBA students at Wagner College.

He holds both a bachelor’s degree in finance and an MBA from St. John’s University.
