Florida’s Corporate Banking Division Is Being Expanded by BankUnited

Three new bankers have joined BankUnited, N.A., one of the largest independent depository institutions with its headquarters in Florida, to help the bank better serve its expanding portfolio of middle-market and large corporate businesses operating in the area.

The BankUnited family is pleased to welcome these three talented bankers, according to chief operating officer Thomas M. Cornish. Having Jeff, Eric, and Ilian on board further demonstrates our commitment to the market and our growth objectives. They are great additions to our seasoned team of relationship-based bankers.

In his most recent role as market manager and senior vice president, middle corporate banking for HSBC Bank USA in Fort Lauderdale, Jeffrey Brandt of Davie, who has more than 20 years of industry experience, honed his skills in C&I, international business, international trade finance, and foreign exchange management. He now holds the title of senior vice president, corporate banking-producing team leader. He will lead a team at BankUnited that is in charge of business development and creating loans and deposit options for corporate clients. Brandt is involved in South Florida’s business and charitable communities. He holds master’s and undergraduate degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo and has previously served on the board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County.

Eric Boritz, Senior Vice President, Corporate Banking Relationship Manager, of Delray Beach has nearly 13 years of banking experience, with a focus on corporate lending and international relationship management. He joins BankUnited from HSBC Bank USA in Fort Lauderdale, where he was in charge of offering middle-market business clients throughout the Southeast US domestic and international banking advisory and financing solutions. Boritz has been a committed supporter of Junior Achievement of South Florida for more than ten years. He holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, Illinois, as well as a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He also served as committee chair for an event that raised money for student scholarships.

Ilian Obregon, Senior Vice President, Corporate Banking Relationship Manager, joins BankUnited from HSBC Bank USA in Miami. Obregon, who has 12 years of experience in the field, most recently held the position of vice president and senior corporate banking manager, where he was in charge of portfolio and relationship management, business development, and a focus on the technology and healthcare sectors. His undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Florida, and he received his MBA from Nova Southeastern University in Davie. Obregon is president of the South Florida Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth and actively serves on the board of directors for Lighthouse of Broward.
