VanEck has announced that its Emerging Markets Bond ETF has officially begun trading, completing its conversion from the VanEck Emerging Markets Bond Fund a traditional open-end mutual fund. The transition was executed on a tax-free basis for existing shareholders, allowing them to retain all the benefits of the fund’s proven investment strategy while gaining the added flexibility and efficiency of an ETF structure.

The move preserves VanEck’s experienced portfolio management team, long-standing track record, and disciplined investment approach. Investors can now enjoy additional advantages, including intraday liquidity, daily portfolio transparency, and potential tax efficiencies all without any changes to the fund’s investment objectives or process.

Over the past five years, the fund has delivered an annualized return of 4.9%, outperforming both its benchmark (2.3%) and U.S. Treasuries (-3.0%). Since its inception in 2012, the strategy has consistently outperformed on both an absolute and risk-adjusted basis, ranking in the top percentile of its Morningstar category year-to-date and in the top quartile for 1-, 5-, and 10-year periods. As of September 30, 2025, VanEck’s emerging markets fixed income team manages approximately $492.38 million in assets globally.

“Emerging market bonds have outperformed Treasuries and global aggregates for more than two decades,” said Eric Fine, Portfolio Manager at VanEck. “That strength comes from sound fiscal policies and independent, inflation-focused central banks policies that remain popular in emerging markets and are likely to continue driving performance.”

VanEck’s Emerging Markets Fixed Income team, which oversees EMBX, brings over 25 years of combined expertise. The team is led by Portfolio Manager Eric Fine, along with Deputy Portfolio Manager David Austerweil, Chief Economist Natalia Gurushina, and Senior Corporate Analyst Robert Schmieder.
