The Most Influential Woman in the Arab World Becomes CEO of Revolut UAE

Ambareen Musa is an entrepreneur from Mauritius with a business degree from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. At just 21, she launched her first online business, a property portal for international students in Australia. In 2004, she moved to London to work for GE Money, where she held various roles in marketing, financial education, and e-commerce, even leading the UK’s first online financial literacy initiative, Moneybasics.co.uk.

In 2008, Ambareen relocated to Dubai, where she worked as a consultant for Bain & Company Middle East. She then established the consulting branch of MasterCard for the Middle East and Africa. In 2012, she founded Souqalmal.com, a top financial comparison and insurance platform in the UAE and KSA. Souqalmal.com was named “Online Business of the Year 2015” and ranked among Dubai’s top 100 SMEs.

 

 

Ambareen has received numerous accolades, including “Entrepreneur of the Year” at the Enterprise Agility Awards in 2015 and “Leading Women in Business” at the DMCC Awards in 2016. She has also been recognized as one of the Top 50 most influential women in the Arab World by Arabian Business. Additionally, she has served on the UAE National Debt Panel and the UN Task Force on Digital Financing for Sustainable Development Goals. Ambareen Musa will be serving as the CEO of Revolut UAE, where she will be transforming how people manage their money. She has been recognized as one of the Top 50 most influential women in the Arab World by Arabian Business and received the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year award from The Entrepreneur magazine, as well as the Emirates Women Award from the Dubai Government. Before joining Revolut, she founded Souqalmal.com, which was named one of the Top 10 most promising startups in the UAE by Forbes Middle East before being acquired in 2022. Additionally, she launched and managed Yabi from 2022 to 2024, addressing the region’s need for financial education with the first program available in both Arabic and English for corporates, governments, and students.
