Comforte and ITSS Secure Temenos Banking Data

Comforte AG, a global leader in data-centric security, has partnered with ITSS Global, a premier Temenos delivery specialist, to help banks eliminate the risks associated with clear-text personally identifiable information (PII) and payment data within core banking systems. The collaboration is specifically designed for financial institutions running Temenos Transact, enabling them to strengthen data protection without introducing complex customisation into their environments.

As banks accelerate digital transformation initiatives from fraud detection systems to AI-driven analytics the exposure of sensitive data across interconnected systems has become an increasing regulatory and operational risk. Modern banking infrastructures often extend far beyond the core, connecting analytics platforms, cloud services, and third-party integrations. In this landscape, protecting the perimeter is no longer enough. Regulators and global standards bodies are raising expectations around how financial institutions safeguard data and demonstrate compliance, particularly under frameworks such as PCI DSS and global privacy regulations.

The comforte and ITSS collaboration addresses this challenge with a co-developed solution that embeds data-centric security directly into Temenos Transact environments. Delivered by ITSS as part of its Temenos services portfolio, the integration leverages comforte’s TAMUNIO technology to provide centralized policy management, tokenization, and controlled de-tokenization. This approach ensures sensitive information remains protected across systems while still enabling reporting, analytics, downstream processing, fraud monitoring workflows, and AI-powered insights.

Rather than slowing innovation, the solution positions security as a strategic enabler. Henning Horst, CTO at comforte, emphasized that the modern threat landscape requires a shift in mindset — from securing systems to securing the data itself. Regulators and auditors increasingly expect sensitive data to remain protected wherever it resides, even within internal environments. By embedding tokenization into core banking workflows, banks can demonstrate control while accelerating analytics and AI initiatives built on protected datasets.

From the implementation perspective, the partnership enables secure integration without disrupting modernization programs. Somasundaram M, Regional Sales Director for MEA at ITSS, noted that as banks modernize Temenos environments and migrate toward cloud-connected architectures, the real security challenge lies in safeguarding sensitive data as it flows between systems. By integrating data-centric tokenization directly into transformation roadmaps, banks can significantly reduce breach exposure, comply with evolving mandates such as PCI DSS 4.0 and GDPR, and adopt advanced analytics or AI use cases without compromising data sovereignty or system performance.

The collaboration ultimately reflects a broader shift within financial services. As data becomes the foundation for digital banking innovation, protecting that data at its core is no longer optional. By embedding tokenization into core banking infrastructure, comforte and ITSS are helping financial institutions move beyond perimeter defenses toward resilient, compliance-ready, data-centric security architectures that support both regulatory confidence and innovation at scale.
