Cody Phelps Named VP of Strategic Acquisitions at Cambridge

Cambridge Investment Research, a well-known independent financial solutions firm that supports more than 4,100 financial professionals nationwide, has announced the appointment of Cody Phelps as its new First Vice President of Strategic Acquisitions. In this new role, Phelps will collaborate with senior leadership to guide the strategic direction of several Cambridge-owned Offices of Supervisory Jurisdiction (OSJs), which are multi-advisor teams operating within the company’s network. His work will focus on strengthening business operations, expanding recruitment initiatives, and leading strategic growth efforts that support advisors and the clients they serve across the Cambridge ecosystem.

The leadership team at Cambridge believes that Phelps brings the right experience and vision to help the organization continue its growth journey. Tammy Robbins, Executive Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer at Cambridge, shared that the company did not have to look far to find the ideal candidate. She emphasized that Phelps has already demonstrated strong leadership and partnership while working with one of the firm’s OSJs. According to Robbins, his industry experience and understanding of the independent advisor landscape will play an important role as Cambridge continues to expand its acquisition strategy and deliver valuable resources to financial professionals.

Cambridge has been actively strengthening its succession planning and transition support programs for advisors. The company recognizes that many financial professionals eventually face the challenge of finding the right successor for their business. To address this, Cambridge has broadened its solutions through its internal programs as well as through BridgePort Financial Solutions. These initiatives allow Cambridge to step in as a potential buyer when advisors or OSJs do not have a suitable succession plan in place. The goal is to ensure continuity for clients, preserve long-standing relationships, and help advisors transition their businesses smoothly while maintaining stability within the firm’s network.
