Capitolis, the financial technology company focused on improving capital efficiency across the financial markets, has signed an agreement to acquire 20 Gates Management’s U.S. Secured Financing Platform. The transaction, expected to close in the coming weeks, will significantly expand Capitolis’ Capital Marketplace by adding U.S. secured financing capabilities, broadening its institutional client base, and bringing seasoned industry professionals into the organization.
The acquired platform has operated for more than 15 years and is supported by a diverse group of prominent investors and banking institutions. By integrating it into its Capital Marketplace, Capitolis gains access to an established network of major financial institutions while strengthening its footprint in the U.S. secured financing market. The deal also brings experienced team members from 20 Gates Management into Capitolis, adding institutional knowledge and long-standing client relationships to the company’s growing team.

Gil Mandelzis, Founder and CEO of Capitolis, described the acquisition as a natural evolution of an already long-standing relationship between the two firms. He noted that Capitolis has previously partnered with 20 Gates and sees strong strategic alignment in bringing its U.S. secured financing capabilities under the Capitolis umbrella. While the Capital Marketplace already offers secured financing solutions in Europe, Mandelzis emphasized that expanding into the U.S. is critical to meeting client demand in one of the world’s largest capital markets. Beyond product expansion, he highlighted the value of integrating experienced talent and established institutional relationships to accelerate growth and deepen market impact.
Hans Bald, CEO of 20 Gates Management, echoed that sentiment, pointing to the long history of collaboration and mutual respect between the firms. He expressed confidence in Capitolis’ expertise and leadership in the market, adding that 20 Gates will remain focused on its core asset management business, particularly investing in private and revolving asset-backed securities on behalf of its clients.
The acquisition reflects Capitolis’ broader strategy of strengthening its role as a capital markets infrastructure partner. By expanding its secured financing capabilities across geographies, the company continues to position its Capital Marketplace as a platform that enables financial institutions to optimize balance sheets, improve capital efficiency, and access diversified liquidity solutions.
