Helium Partners With Mambo WiFi to Expand Network in Brazil

Helium, a leader in decentralized wireless communications, has announced a major international expansion through a new joint venture with Brazil’s prominent WiFi provider, Mambo WiFi. Together, the companies plan to bring Helium’s people-powered wireless network to millions of mobile users across Brazil. The announcement was made at Solana Breakpoint, where Helium also introduced a new International Waitlist for organizations and communities interested in bringing the Helium Network to their region.

Helium’s model reimagines telecom infrastructure by allowing individuals and businesses to deploy Hotspots small devices that function like mini cell towers to extend mobile coverage and offload data from major carriers. The network has already grown to more than 120,000 Hotspots across the United States and Mexico, serving nearly two million daily users. Brazil will be the next major region to come online.

Although Brazil is the largest country in South America, more than half the population still lacks consistent high-quality internet access. Over 100 million people rely primarily on public or shared WiFi connections. Mambo WiFi, which operates 40,000 access points nationwide and already supports major telecom carriers, provides a strong foundation for Helium’s entry into the Brazilian market. By combining Mambo’s existing footprint with Helium’s decentralized model, the partnership aims to rapidly improve mobile coverage and accessibility across the country.

Mario Di Dio, GM of Network at Helium, emphasized the significance of the partnership, noting that Mambo’s carrier relationships and nationwide presence make the company an ideal collaborator. He said the joint venture represents a major milestone in Helium’s global expansion and showcases how people-powered networks can deliver affordable, reliable coverage at scale.

The initiative illustrates how decentralized networks can enter new regions more quickly and cost-effectively than traditional telecom models. As Helium continues expanding globally, the company plans to work alongside local carriers in new markets to enhance coverage for subscribers through carrier offload while reducing infrastructure costs for operators.
