Pix payments will be integrated with C6 Bank and PicPay accounts through Google Wallet
The integration of Google Wallet with C6 Bank and PicPay accounts has been announced by Google. This will enable users to initiate payments via Pix without the need to access the financial institutions’ applications. According to the announcement, the objective of this improvement to Google’s payments platform is to offer users in Brazil a greater degree of convenience, speed, and adaptability. It is a logical progression to completely address the country’s payment requirements by incorporating Pix as a payment method.

According to the executive, Open Finance facilitates the connection between the platform and banking systems, thereby expanding the digital wallet’s capabilities as a payment initiator. In order to accomplish this, users must establish a connection between their bank accounts and Google Wallet. Following the integration, the wallet’s main screen will feature three buttons, the first of which is designated for transfer operations by pointing the Pix key, as is the case in banking applications. The integration of Google Wallet with C6 Bank and PicPay accounts has been announced by Google. This will enable users to initiate payments via Pix without the need to access the financial institutions’ applications.

Additionally, users will have the option to make payments by scanning a QR code with their phone camera or by utilizing the Pix Copy and Paste code. The app will always request authentication with a password in order to confirm payments without the need to access the bank applications. The device will also be able to accommodate multiple bank accounts for the Central Bank (BC) transfer platform, which can be selected during the transfer process.

It is important to mention that the platform will continue to support contactless payments with debit and credit cards, irrespective of the introduction of payments with Pix. Currently, Google has not disclosed a launch date for the platform integration. The company has only disclosed that the initial public launch will be phased and incremental, with a meticulous assessment of user feedback and product adoption. Additionally, the new feature will be initially accessible exclusively to PicPay and C6 Bank accounts. The company is amenable to establishing new partnerships, but there is no indication that the integration will be implemented for other financial institutions.
