Prometeo, the leading fintech infrastructure provider connecting global corporations with financial institutions across Latin America and the United States, has announced the launch of Agentic Banking, a pioneering infrastructure layer that allows large language models (LLMs) and other AI agents to autonomously perform real-world financial operations.

With this launch, Prometeo becomes the first infrastructure provider in the region to make financial services fully readable and operable by artificial intelligence. The platform combines a robust API network, an intelligent access protocol, and conversational interfaces, enabling AI to execute payments, validate accounts, and manage treasury operations while maintaining full compliance and traceability.

“With Agentic Banking, Prometeo is not just building for the future we’re enabling it,” said Rodrigo Tumaian, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Prometeo. “Where workflows were once hard-coded, AI can now drive secure, structured actions in real time.”

The solution builds on Prometeo’s existing API infrastructure, which connects to more than 1,200 financial institutions across 11 countries. Two key layers ensure secure AI interaction: the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a compliant mediation layer governing AI access to financial data, and the Agentic Interface System, an orchestration layer that connects AI agents to users via WhatsApp, web portals, or enterprise systems, enabling conversational finance and automation at scale.

“Latin America has the talent and demand to lead in AI-powered finance, but it needs the infrastructure to match,” said Ximena Aleman, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Prometeo. “Agentic Banking bridges that gap by giving AI secure, real-time access to financial systems across the region.”

Prometeo has already deployed real-world use cases in Peru, Mexico, and Brazil, including conversational payments through chat interfaces, instant account validation for transfers, and autonomous treasury bots that manage balances and execute multi-party payments. The platform is designed for both developers, via API integration, and businesses, through a no-code web portal for quick access to AI-driven operations.

The company is ISO 27001 certified and built Agentic Banking with full regulatory compliance, including pre-transfer controls, audit-friendly traceability, and nominative account tracking. Following its recent Borderless Banking and U.S. Account Validation rollouts, Prometeo plans to expand Agentic Banking to Argentina, Colombia, and the United States in the coming months, further establishing itself as the infrastructure layer powering cross-border, programmable finance across the Americas.
