Global Money Exchange , Oman’s leading money exchange company, has announced the launch of Global Pay, a new mobile application designed to deliver secure, convenient, and inclusive digital payment services for everyday use. The app is powered by Comviva’s mobiquity Pay platform and aligns closely with Oman’s national digital transformation vision, reinforcing GMEC’s commitment to advancing modern financial services across the Sultanate.

The launch marks a key milestone in GMEC’s digital journey, combining trusted financial expertise with advanced payment technology. Developed in partnership with Comviva a subsidiary of Tech Mahindra and part of the Mahindra Group the Global Pay app enables users to carry out secure local and international payment transactions directly from their mobile devices. The platform is PCI-DSS certified, underscoring GMEC’s focus on maintaining the highest standards of payment security and data protection for customers.

Speaking at the launch, Sheikh Sulaiman Abdulmalik Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of Global Money Exchange, said the Global Pay app is designed to make digital payments safer and more efficient for both Omani nationals and expatriates. He emphasized that the app reflects GMEC’s vision of making secure digital financial services accessible to a broad segment of society.

Rajesh Chandiramani, CEO of Comviva, highlighted the role of mobiquity Pay in supporting GMEC’s transformation. He noted that the cloud-ready and scalable platform is built to support rapid growth and seamless expansion, adding that Global Pay demonstrates Comviva’s commitment to helping financial institutions across the Middle East deliver world-class digital experiences that promote financial inclusion.

From a customer perspective, the app introduces practical everyday use cases. Subromoniyan K S, Managing Director of Global Money Exchange, explained that customers can pay utility bills and educational fees without the need for a bank account, helping extend digital financial access to a wider population. He also pointed out that merchants can accept QR-based payments from customers of any bank or service provider in Oman, ensuring full interoperability across the payments ecosystem.

Customer support has also been a key focus of the rollout. Sonam Dorje, General Manager of Global Money Exchange, noted that users can seek assistance through any GMEC branch across Oman or connect with a dedicated customer support helpline for timely issue resolution.

Madhusoodanan R, Executive Advisor to the Board of Global Money Exchange, added that GMEC was the first money exchange company in Oman to receive a Payment Service Provider (PSP) license. He said the Global Pay initiative strongly supports Oman’s vision of moving toward a cashless economy and confirmed that additional features will be introduced in phases to further enhance the customer experience.

The launch event was attended by senior leadership from Global Money Exchange and Comviva, reflecting the collaborative effort behind the initiative and signaling a shared commitment to shaping the future of digital payments in Oman.
