DANA, in partnership with Ant International and Konservasi Indonesia, has unveiled Ocean Buddy, an interactive in-app mini program designed to raise awareness and encourage long-term public participation in marine conservation. The initiative was announced at the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025 in Abu Dhabi, highlighting its global significance.

Inspired by Ant Forest, Ocean Buddy uses gamification and engaging visuals to make conservation efforts more interactive and rewarding for DANA’s 200 million users in Indonesia. The program focuses on protecting whale sharks along Java’s southern coast, a species whose population has declined by up to 63% across the Indo-Pacific over the last 75 years due to threats like stranding.
The initiative reflects DANA’s ESG commitment to building climate resilience, leveraging technology to translate everyday online activities into meaningful offline conservation actions. Through Ocean Buddy’s Impact Coins and cumulative-score ranking, users can directly support projects such as whale shark habitat protection and first-response training for stranded marine mammals, with all content verified by Konservasi Indonesia.
