DeFi Technologies has announced the appointment of Philippe Lucet as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, reinforcing its executive leadership as the company continues to expand its footprint at the intersection of traditional capital markets and decentralized finance.
Lucet currently serves as General Counsel of Valour, DeFi Technologies’ wholly owned subsidiary and a leading issuer of exchange-traded products (ETPs) linked to digital assets. In his expanded role, Lucet will oversee the parent company’s legal strategy, corporate governance framework, and regulatory affairs across its global operations.

He succeeds Kenny Choi, who is stepping down from the position. The company expressed appreciation for Choi’s contributions during his tenure.
Johan Wattenström, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of DeFi Technologies, highlighted Lucet’s international legal leadership experience across regulated and innovation-driven sectors. He noted that Lucet’s background in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, strategy, and intellectual property — combined with his leadership at Valour positions him to support the company’s continued growth and execution across global markets.
Lucet brings an extensive legal career spanning financial services, technology, luxury goods, and multinational corporations. Prior to joining Valour, he served as Group General Counsel at a global IT company headquartered in Geneva, overseeing legal, regulatory, and compliance matters worldwide. Earlier, he was Vice President and General Counsel for Research & Development and Intellectual Property at Nestlé, where he led global teams responsible for patents, trademarks, digital initiatives, and health science legal matters.

Before Nestlé, Lucet held leadership roles at Richemont and practiced corporate and investment law at Dentons (formerly Salans), specializing in corporate transactions, innovation, and intellectual property.
Academically, Lucet holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs (Finance and Banking) from Columbia University and a Master of Laws from Stanford University.
