BNY has announced that Charles F. Lowrey will join its Board of Directors as an independent director effective February 15, 2026. With his appointment, BNY’s Board will expand to 12 members, 11 of whom are independent, further strengthening the company’s governance structure.

Lowrey currently serves as Executive Chairman of Prudential Financial, Inc., a role he assumed in April 2025. Before that, he led the company as Chief Executive Officer from 2018 to 2025 and served as Chairman from 2019 to 2025. His career at Prudential spans decades and includes leadership roles across international and U.S. businesses, as well as serving as president and CEO of PGIM, the firm’s global investment management division, and earlier as CEO of its real estate investment business.
Before joining Prudential in 2001, Lowrey built a successful investment banking career at J.P. Morgan, eventually becoming managing director and head of the Americas for its Real Estate and Lodging Investment Banking group. Earlier in his career, he founded and served as managing partner of an architecture firm in New York City.

Lowrey holds an MBA from Harvard University, a master’s degree in architecture from Yale University, and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Princeton University.
His extensive experience across financial services, global investment management, and operational leadership is expected to bring fresh insights as BNY continues to advance its strategic priorities.
