Alternative investment manager AIP Capital, known for its focus on asset-based finance opportunities, has announced the promotion of Dimuth Fernando to the role of Chief Commercial Officer. In this position, Fernando will lead the firm’s global commercial strategy and oversee its relationships with industry clients across multiple regions.
Fernando joined AIP Capital in 2024 and previously served as the head of the firm’s Singapore office. In that role, he was responsible for driving commercial initiatives across the Asia-Pacific and Central Asia regions, helping the company expand its presence and strengthen its connections with airlines and aviation partners throughout the region.

According to AIP Capital’s leadership, Fernando’s promotion reflects both his strong performance and his extensive experience within the aviation finance industry. Jared Ailstock, Managing Partner at AIP Capital, highlighted Fernando’s deep expertise in aircraft financing, sales, and leasing, noting that his more than two decades of industry experience makes him well suited to guide the company’s commercial efforts on a global scale.
Fernando expressed gratitude for the new role and emphasized his commitment to supporting airline partners worldwide. He noted that his focus will be on strengthening long-term partnerships with airline customers and delivering tailored fleet and financing solutions that help them achieve sustainable growth and operational success.
Before joining AIP Capital, Fernando held several senior positions in the aviation industry. He served as Senior Vice President of Marketing at Jackson Square Aviation, a global aircraft leasing company, where he led origination, sales, remarketing, and airline relationship management. His role involved working closely with airline partners around the world to structure aircraft leasing and financing arrangements.

Earlier in his career, Fernando worked as Sales Director at Embraer, the Brazilian regional jet manufacturer, where he was responsible for aircraft sales and airline partnerships. He also began his professional journey at The Boeing Company, contributing to aircraft product development before moving into leadership roles in freighter conversions, supply chain management, aircraft marketing, and financing across the Middle East and Asia-Pacific markets.
