WSFS Bank Appoints Rene Gonzales as Chief Technology Officer

WSFS Bank, the main subsidiary of WSFS Financial Corporation, has announced the appointment of Rene Gonzales as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. In his new position, Gonzales will oversee the bank’s technology strategy, infrastructure, and operational systems, helping drive the organization’s continued growth and digital innovation.

Gonzales will report directly to Allan Matyger, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at WSFS Bank. Together, the leadership team aims to strengthen the bank’s technology capabilities while ensuring its systems and platforms continue to support both customers and employees effectively. His role will focus on advancing the bank’s technology infrastructure, improving operational efficiency, and supporting long-term digital transformation initiatives.

Bringing more than three decades of experience in information technology leadership, Gonzales joins WSFS Bank with a strong background in managing complex technological transformations. Throughout his career, he has worked across both the financial services and manufacturing sectors, leading initiatives that enhance operational performance and modernize enterprise technology environments.

Before joining WSFS, Gonzales served as Chief Technology Officer at Cenlar Federal Savings Bank. During his tenure there, he led a multi-year strategic technology roadmap that focused on modernizing key systems and strengthening the institution’s digital infrastructure. His work included overseeing the migration of data centers to cloud environments, upgrading telephony systems, and implementing a comprehensive data maturity program designed to improve data management and analytics capabilities across the organization.

According to Allan Matyger, Gonzales’ experience in executing large-scale technology initiatives makes him a valuable addition to the WSFS leadership team. Matyger highlighted that Gonzales’ expertise in digital development and transformation aligns well with the bank’s ongoing efforts to expand its technological capabilities and enhance the services it provides to clients.

Continuing his commitment to professional development, he is currently enrolled in the Chief Technology Officer Program at the Wharton Executive Education division of the University of Pennsylvania.

Gonzales has also dedicated nearly three decades to military service as a member of the United States Army Reserve, where he served as a Major before retiring.
