PitchBook, a global leader in private capital market intelligence, has released findings from its 10th annual investor survey, conducted in partnership with Web Summit 2025, the world’s largest technology conference. The survey captures how investors are adapting to the rapid evolution of AI and its growing influence on investment strategies.
This year’s results reveal a pivotal shift AI is no longer just a supporting tool but a driving force shaping how and where capital is deployed. The insights, drawn from 116 global investors attending the Lisbon event, reflect a mix of enthusiasm and caution as the investment community integrates AI into core workflows.

According to the survey, investors are now using AI across deal sourcing, due diligence, and benchmarking. While over 40% believe AI could eventually replace market research and trend analysis, most emphasize that human judgment remains critical in decision-making. Still, AI’s growing influence is undeniable 63% of respondents expect AI to expand global access to investment opportunities, and 44% believe healthcare will attract the most AI investment in the next five years.

Despite this optimism, trust and data integrity remain top concerns. Investors ranked data quality, accuracy, and security risks among the biggest challenges in adopting AI-driven tools. PitchBook’s Director of EMEA Private Capital Research, Nalin Patel, noted that the investment ecosystem is “undergoing a meaningful recalibration,” with AI driving larger rounds and reshaping deal dynamics—but with “thoughtful discipline.”
Web Summit’s Investor Manager, Jordan Flyn, added that this marks a new era for global investing. “The future of investing won’t be defined by who has the most data,” he said, “but by who can turn that data into action.”
PitchBook’s latest findings also point to cautious optimism in the broader fundraising landscape. About 36% of respondents expect conditions to improve over the next year, signaling renewed stability after a volatile market cycle.

As AI becomes deeply embedded in investment strategies, both PitchBook and Web Summit emphasize that technology’s real power lies not in automation alone—but in how effectively investors combine data, intelligence, and human insight to make smarter, fairer decisions.
