1. Cyber Recovery Unit # 30-Second Recovery

For workstations, our Cyber Recovery Unit solution consists of:

  1. A Hardware unit to store the data and protect it from any corruption.
  2. A Software Agent to perform dedicated data copy and anomaly inspection.
  3. A Centralized Monitoring System to inform the user and display the status of each station.

In order to ensure operational continuity, the product should be installed in advance (before an attack happens). If possible, we advise, performing the first installation (Factory Reset version) on a clean operational environment – after the computer is fully configured and contains no viruses (i.e., before internet connected). We suggest installing on the
most critical workstations in the organization – thus, that requires continuous operation and fast recovery

2. The Air-Gapped Technology

The algorithm will not allow any external or internal control of this functionality from the computer. It means, that every X days, a different disk will be accessible to the user for backup of the data – other disks are electronically offline. Its data loss prevention tools are easy to use – less than 1 minute of installation in order to protect the data from malicious encryption. It requires only 30 seconds to return the system back to work in case of a cyber-attack or system malfunction. At any given moment, only one of the backup disks is accessible to the computer receiving electrical voltage; the other 2 disks are in a full air-gapped mode, hence isolated from any external or internal control.

During the initial installation, the first backup copy will be transferred to the NVMe-Factory Reset disk. Once the backup is finished, this disk will be in a permanent air-gapped state, the factory reset/baseline version of the system. This baseline is an operational state of the computer – fully configured and includes the OS, configurations, licenses, etc. – the only difference is how old the data, is to ensure there is no sleeper malware inside. The NVMe-Current and NVMe-Previous disks will be constantly updated by the software agent according to the selected frequency.

3. Monitoring system

The module allows complete visibility of the status of every installed product. As a standard used in Salvador Technologies’ cloud, easily accessible on web browser. Their CRU device is connected by a USB cable to the workstation HMI or computer. It contains 3 NVMe disks that store the data configuration and perform backups of OS, drivers, configurations, and data files. In case of a cyber-attack or any system failure, you restart your computer and choose the option of booting from the CRU device.

4. Backup Validation

With their simple-to-use web monitoring system, you can see the status of all workstation in one management panel on the cloud or on-premise (in case no internet connection exists).

Backing up data to an offline server can mitigate a variety of issues and guarantee that no data is lost. While this will not prevent the release of sensitive data in the event of a ransomware attack, backing up your data to an inactive server not only provides a “backup” but also enables the application of a full-system reboot in the event of a malware attack, whether or not it is ransomware. It offers a method to restart from your backup without the need to worry about corruption, allowing you to stop all operations upon the recognition of malware without the anxiety of losing sensitive data.

5. A Hardware unit connected to the PC, storing the data and protecting it from any corruption

The device is connected by a USB cable using the attached USB type-C (device end) to type-A (computer end) cable. The next generation will support SATA connection, to use the product in old operational system(OS) such as Windows XP and other systems that do not support boot from USB. The system contains 3 NVMe disks – the fastest protocol for data transfer, up to 10Gbp/s. It allows running (boot) the computer from the device without compromising the computer’s operation speed. One disk – Factory Reset – is used to store the data configuration during installation. It is the fully operational version that is never exposed to the user.
